The sun has set on an era as three beloved icons of 2000s muscle car glory bid their final farewell. The Stellantis’ Brampton Assembly Plant in Ontario, Canada, saw the culmination of an epic era with the last 2023 Dodge Charger and Challenger rolling off the line on December 22, as confirmed by a Dodge spokesperson following reports by Automotive News Canada. Just two days earlier, the curtain fell on the production of the last Chrysler 300.

The final Charger, a Scat Pack widebody model, donned a striking Destroyer Gray coat, while its Challenger counterpart, an SRT Demon 170 in Pitch Black, marked the end of an era. Images surfaced briefly on Facebook, capturing the proud factory workers alongside the coupe, flaunting distinctive gold wheels.

These iconic machines all traced their origins to the L platform introduced in 2005 with the Chrysler 300, a car that etched itself into the fabric of the hip-hop scene with its opulent Bentley-esque aesthetics merged seamlessly with American gangster charm.

Following suit, the Charger made its debut in 2006, with the Challenger arriving two years later in 2008. Both rear-wheel-drive powerhouses brought the thunder of V-8 muscle to enthusiasts, becoming synonymous with smoking burnouts and raucous donuts, courtesy of their 5.7-liter HEMI engines. Their legacy soared higher with the introduction of the SRT Hellcat models in 2015, featuring supercharged 6.2-liter V-8s that unleashed over 700 horsepower, all at an enticing price point.

As for the Charger and Challenger’s successors, all eyes turn to the Windsor Assembly Plant in Canada. Expected to unify into a single model hinted at by the Charger Daytona SRT concept, this next iteration could encompass two- and four-door variants, featuring a blend of electric powertrains and Stellantis’ potent Hurricane inline-six, capable of up to 510 horsepower in existing Jeep and Ram models. Meanwhile, the Chrysler 300 will gracefully exit without a direct replacement, as the brand prepares to reinvent itself with a series of electric vehicles in the coming years.
