Porsche has officially revealed the redesigned 2024 Panamera lineup, featuring the standard Panamera sedan, the all-wheel-drive Panamera 4, and the range-topping Turbo E-Hybrid. Although the Sport Turismo wagon body style has been dropped due to slow sales, the new Panamera offers plenty of exciting updates.
The new Panamera boasts improvements in technology, hybrid capability, luxury, and performance. Stylistically, it evolves with cleaner lines, muscular front fenders reminiscent of the 911, and larger air intakes. The rear end features a revised design and a full-width light bar.
New wheel designs are available, including the first-ever central-locking wheels on a four-door Porsche. Additionally, the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid features a new dark-hued Turbonite finish for its interior and exterior trims, hinting at what’s to come in Porsche’s future Turbo models.
The cabin of the new Panamera draws inspiration from the Taycan EV, with highlights such as a gear selector toggle positioned on the dashboard and up to three digital displays, including a 12.6-inch unit for the instrument cluster and optional dual 10.9-inch touchscreens. The comfort of the seats has been enhanced with new foam padding, and the upholstery options go beyond leather. The updated infotainment system offers better functionality with the MyPorsche app when connected to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
The Panamera’s adaptive cruise control and driver-assistance systems have been updated, and the car can now be remotely parked in certain situations using the driver’s smartphone.
In terms of powertrains, the Panamera closely follows the updated Cayenne SUV. The standard rear- and all-wheel-drive models are equipped with a revised turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 engine that delivers 348 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque, offering improved performance compared to the outgoing version. The transmission choice remains an eight-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, with Porsche claiming conservative acceleration numbers of 5.0 seconds for the base car and 4.7 seconds for the Panamera 4.
The highlight of the lineup is the all-wheel-drive Turbo E-Hybrid, the first among four Panamera E-Hybrid models to be introduced. While Porsche has not released full specifications yet, the Turbo E-Hybrid features a revamped twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with a more powerful 187-hp electric motor, resulting in a combined output of 670 horsepower and 685 pound-feet of torque. The Panamera Turbo S variant is expected to come close to the 729 horsepower of the latest Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.
The E-Hybrid model comes with a 370-volt electrical system, including a 21.8-kWh battery pack that can be charged in a little over two hours with an 11.0-kWh onboard charger. The estimated EPA-rated electric range is nearly 30 miles, with a claimed 0-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds and a top speed of 195 mph.
The new Panamera features advanced suspension with two-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers as standard. Rear-axle steering can be added for improved stability and maneuverability. The E-Hybrid models also offer Porsche’s optional Active Ride system, which replaces anti-roll bars with a combination of single-chamber air springs and hydraulically linked cylinders at each wheel. This system enhances body control in sportier drive modes and provides improved comfort in calmer settings. It can even dynamically adjust the body height to ensure overall ground clearance and facilitate easier entry and exit from the vehicle.
The base Panamera starts at $101,550, while the Panamera 4 begins at $108,550. The Turbo E-Hybrid is expected to be priced higher than the outgoing Turbo S E-Hybrid sedan’s $197,850. Porsche will release additional details closer to the on-sale date, with order books now open for spring deliveries.
